ABOUT:

'New Work' is an up and coming duet by Lesley Telford, commissioned by Ballet B.C. for its 2017 Program 2, focus on B.C. choreographers. Inspired by the Narcissus myth, my composition gives voice to a reflective surface through layered spoken word that combines the textured, rhythmic musicality of speech with an elusive narrative. Together with Lesley Telford's rigorous and driven choreography, the piece explores our society's sensual relationships with the surfaces that reflect us, both inanimate and human.
