ABOUT:

Torsten Müller creates dramatic music using knotty plucks, audacious bowing, and a wide vocabulary of extended technique. Award-winning German pianist Georg Graewe works on the borders of jazz, free improvisation, and contemporary avant-garde.

Juno award winner Gordon Grdina is a Oud/Guitarist whose sound is a combination of his interests in mainstream jazz, free- form improvisation and Arabic classical music.

Ben Brown is a Vancouver, BC based musician, composer and teacher. Recent highlights include a 6-month solo tour of Europe where Brown collaborated with Musicians/Dancers and studied privately with master Percussionist, Dame Evelyn Glennie. As a Drummer, Brown has worked with musicians such as Wilbert De Joode, K-OS, Jill Barber and Dancers Katie Duck, Su-Feh Lee and Justine Chambers. In April 2013 he received a Juno Award for Best Instrumental Album of the year with the group, Pugs and Crows. Brown is the founder of Music And Movement Mondays (MAMM), Vancouver's weekly collaborative series between live musicians and dancers. As a composer, his works for dance and film have been featured at festivals in Toronto, Mexico and Vancouver.

Trained as an architect and orchestral musician, Roxanne Nesbitt’s work combines several divergent disciplines. Her research and practice explores the connection between sound, site and motion, employing architecture, craft and video to forge new relationships and reveal existing analogies.

SPIRIT ANIMAL is Allison Melech and Megan Phillips, who have cumulatively been improvising for over 15 years! Megan trained as an actor and singer, co-wrote a musical called People Suck (currently in development with Second City), and improvises at various venues around town. She runs a comedy show called the Anxiety Show, starting this Sunday at Guilt & Co in Gaston. Allison has trained with Jennifer Pielak, Second Story Theatre, Instant Theatre, and Vancouver Theatre Sports League. You can see her most Sunday evenings at the VTSL Rookie League on Granville Island. Neither of them remember how they met but upon discovering how important musical theatre is to both of them, their friendship was cemented. Megan’s spirit animal is a raven and Allison’s might be a skunk, she's not sure.
